Here’s how you can apply for a job at Port Authority and what you can expect from the application process.
Every job vacancy and application at Port Authority of New South Wales goes through a number of steps:
Stage 1: Advertising new vacancies
We advertise new vacancies on the careers section of our website. Once you’ve found an opportunity you’re interested in, the job posting will provide you with more information about the specific requirements of the role.
Stage 2: Applying for a role
After you’ve reviewed the job posting and are confident you have the right knowledge, skills and experience for the role, apply by submitting a cover letter (no longer than a page) and resume to [email protected].
Stage 3: The shortlisting process
Once we have received your application, we’ll evaluate your skills, experience, education, and suitability for the role.
If you have been successful, you’ll be invited for an interview. In some cases there will be a short phone interview first.
If you have been unsuccessful, we will let you know but, unfortunately, we’re unable to provide detailed feedback to candidates not selected to progress to interview.
Stage 4: The interviewing process
If you have successfully passed the shortlisting stage, you’ll be invited to attend an interview, either face to face or by phone.
Depending on the role you have applied for, the interview process and number of interviews may vary.
We use behavioural and technical-based interview questions during our interview processes. In some instances, you will be required to complete a practical assessment, medical assessment and/or psychometric assessment/testing.
Stage 5: The selection process
Once all interviews have been completed and evaluated against the selection criteria, we will then make our decision and inform applicants accordingly. We’ll then ask the most suitable candidates for reference checks.
Stage 6: The offer
Congratulations! If you have been selected as the most suitable candidate for the role, we’ll make an offer and send you an official contract by email.
