More awards for Sydney cruise

Sydney’s reputation as a world-leading cruise destination has received a another boost as the city is awarded a further two cruise accolades.

In the first of two cruise awards this week (starting 3 December), Sydney was chosen as the Best Australian Homeport in the 2018 Cruise Critic AU Editors’ Picks Awards.

The Australian editor of Cruise Critic, the world’s leading cruise reviews site and online cruise community, said of Sydney: “No port can compete with the world's most spectacular harbour. The city delivers stunning beaches, museums, wildlife attractions, waterfront dining and lively bars, making it worthy of extending to a pre- or post-cruise stay, when one day in port is not enough.”

Also this week, Sydney won the people’s vote as the best Australian port in Cruise Passenger’s Readers' Choice Awards 2018. With 10,500 votes counted, the publication cited Sydney as: “the gateway for cruising in New South Wales and the whole of Australia.

“With two cruise terminals – White Bay and the Overseas Passenger Terminal – Sydney can host a range of cruise ships in all sizes. From the largest ship in the Southern Hemisphere, Ovation of the Seas, to smaller boutique ships like the luxurious Seven Seas Explorer, there’s a place for all vessels in Sydney.”

The two wins follow Sydney being chosen as the top-rated port in Australia and New Zealand in the 2018 Cruisers’ Choice Destinations Awards this August.

Sydney’s cruise terminals also received a special mention for innovation at Singapore’s Future Travel Experience Asia Awards 2018 for their mobile airport check-in system launched between Port Authority of New South Wales and Virgin Australia earlier this year.
