A noise mitigation strategy is in place to specifically address noise from cruise ships at White Bay Cruise Terminal and White Bay berth 4.
The strategy was prepared in consultation with the community, local council and key government agencies. The strategy includes a suite of initiatives to minimise the impact of cruise ships on the local community. The strategy is designed to address noise at the receiver (homes) as well as noise at the source (cruise ships).
Noise Attenuation Program
Port Authority has provided acoustic treatments to eligible properties near White Bay Cruise Terminal and White Bay 4 under the Noise Attenuation Program.
Eligible properties have been contacted and accepted into the program, but property owners may still apply for attenuation.
Port Authority will review properties and eligibility on a case-by-case basis.
White Bay Cruise Terminal noise monitoring
Noise across the port is continuously monitored and managed in a consistent and transparent way, with strict consequences for any breaches. Results, including any trigger level exceedances, are available in the monthly noise monitoring reports.
