Port Authority of New South Wales aims to ensure a sustainable balance between the ports, local communities and the environment.

Port Authority’s environmental management approach integrates the identification and management of environmental risks across all business functions and processes.

To minimise impacts on the community and environment, Port Authority implements a combination of strategies, including:

  • Identifying and assessing potential risks
  • Implementing procedures to minimise risks to the public and environment
  • Closely monitoring operations to ensure environmental protection
  • Applying environmental protection measures where needed
  • Maintaining open communication with port communities
  • Ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislation

The Environmental Policy sets out Port Authority’s approach to the environment, integrating environmental values and principles into our decision making and operations.

Port Authority implements the policy through the Corporate Environmental Management Plan (EMP). The EMP comprises a set of processes and practices to ensure that Port Authority minimises the environmental impacts of its operations, supports the commitments made in its Environmental Policy, and establishes a consistent approach to environmental management and continual improvement across the organisation in its daily operations, incorporating Sustainability outcomes.
