Port Security

Legislation

In response to security risks, the Commonwealth Government has implemented the International Ship and Port Facility and Security (ISPS) Code, through the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act (MTOFSA) and Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulation 2003. In 2004, the Commonwealth Office of Transport Security (OTS) approved the Port of Eden maritime security plan, as compliant with MTOFSA and the ISPS Code.

Security Access

Persons requiring access to port facilities will require a form of identification recognised by the port. In addition, persons will be required to hold a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) as part of the Australian governments' initiative to strengthen maritime security.
