Safety and efficiency take centre stage at Port Authority's second port operations forum

Port Authority of NSW yesterday (17 September 2024), hosted the second annual Safe and Efficient Port Operations Forum (SEPOF 2024), providing port users and industry leaders with key insights into the operations across our six commercial ports around the state.

The forum was held against the backdrop of Sydney’s working harbour at the Port Authority’s Overseas Passenger Terminal with over 150 delegates in attendance representing key port users, port service providers, industry regulators and maritime industry partners.

Port Authority’s Chief Operating Officer, Captain John Finch said SEPOF 2024 included a range of presentations by critical port stakeholders providing operational and industry updates as well as highlighting initiatives to meet future sustainability targets.

Captain Finch said that it was great to see the various industry players contribute to the forum by sharing their wealth of knowledge and expertise with delegates.

“The collective knowledge harnessed in the room at the forum provided a great learning experience and shows the level of collaboration that exists across the port community to deliver a safe, reliable and sustainable maritime future.”

“SEPOF 2024, showcased our strong port operation results for the past financial year 2023-2024 that saw a total of 5,587 commercial vessel visits across our six port operations equating to a 3 per cent rise on the previous year.”

Captain Finch added the maritime industry is the backbone of our state, and Port Authority’s stakeholders play a pivotal part in the success of the NSW supply chain.

“I’m proud that Port Authority can host events such as SEPOF 2024 to highlight the importance of the industry and Port Authority looks forward to presenting the 2025 forum next year,” Captain Finch said.
