Community event in Eden

Port Authority is calling for grassroots organisations in the Sydney port community to get their applications in for its Community Grants program offering up to $15,000, before applications close on 20 May 2025.

Port Authority Acting Chief Executive Officer John McKenna said the program reinforces Port Authority’s deep connection with its surrounding communities.

“Our ports are strongly linked to our communities and our Community Grants program gives us an opportunity to give back to important local initiatives,” he said.

“We are proud to play an active role within our port communities.”

Grant applications will open until 20 May and will be assessed by a panel including locally-based Port Authority employees. Successful recipients will be announced in July.

Grants will be awarded for projects that strengthen community, promote sustainability or improve wellbeing for the residents of the surrounding port area.

Harbour Master of Sydney and Port Botany Myron Fernandes said he was looking forward to seeing the positive impact the program will have.

“Sydney’s port communities have a deep-rooted connection to our working harbour which has served as a lifeblood linking local trade, industry and growth,” he said.

“We are excited about the opportunity to give back to our community through this program and we encourage anyone looking to create meaningful change to apply.”
