Port Authority recognised for navigation into greener waters

Port Authority of NSW has achieved Bronze Partner status in the NSW Government’s Sustainability Advantage Program in recognition of their commitment and determination to embed sustainability across its six port locations.

Port Authority of NSW CEO, Captain Philip Holliday, said the achievement of Bronze Partner is a welcome acknowledgement of the organisation’s work and vision.

“We continue to work very hard to achieve sustainability in our business and our partnership with Sustainability Advantage is an important enabler on this journey,’’ Captain Holliday said.

“The path to Bronze Recognition began with the creation of our Sustainability Plan, developed during extensive consultation with our staff, so it authentically speaks to who we our and our staff feel genuine ownership of this goal.

“It marks a new and exciting chapter in our history, and we are driven by the opportunities it will create for our business as well as by the significant energy, waste and emissions reductions we will see as a result of implementation over the coming years.

“We know sustainability is at the core of good business – it makes economic sense, and it delivers environmental and social benefits for our workforce and the community we are a part of too – it is a triple win.”

Department of Environment, Industry and Environment (DPIE) Director Sustainability Programs Mick O’Flynn congratulated Port Authority on their new Bronze partnership with the program.

“Sustainability Advantage has a successful track record of catalysing and facilitating excellence in corporate sustainability, and it is great to see the Port Authority signaling their ambition to be a sustainability leader,” Mr O’Flynn said.

“The Port Authority has started to implement actions within their Sustainability Plan and have recently participated in the development of a net zero pathway through the Sustainability Advantage program.

“I know Port Authority has already started to realise the potential this partnership will bring, and I look forward to following their sustainability journey to success.”

Port Authority of NSW has been a member of Sustainability Advantage since 2019. Sustainability Advantage is NSW Government’s flagship business support program partnering with large and medium organisations to raise ambition and accelerate action to achieve a sustainable transition to net zero emissions.
