Nobbys Headland: expressions of interest

Port Authority of New South Wales is calling for expressions of interest from potential future operators of Newcastle’s iconic Nobbys Headland.

Nobbys Headland is one of Newcastle’s most iconic sites with 360-degree views of the city, working harbour and Newcastle’s stunning coastline.

Now, after engaging with the community, Port Authority of New South Wales is calling for expressions of interest from potential future operators of this heritage site.

Nobbys Headland is home to an active lighthouse that’s been in operation for over 150 years and continues to safely direct ships in and out of Newcastle harbour. The site also includes the three cottages, ancillary buildings and grounds.

The aim of the expressions of interest process is to secure a long-term activation for the site. Future operators need to have funding and management structures in place that will support operations.

Consideration needs to be given to the specific limitations of the site, including restricted access, limited existing services and planning and heritage requirements. Data from the community consultation is included in the expressions of interest documentation.
