Millions raised at Vinnies CEO Sleepout

The cold hard concrete of Sydney’s White Bay Cruise Terminal became home for hundreds of CEOs on 20 June as they slept out to raise money for Australians experiencing homelessness.

With the mercury dipping to a chilly six degrees, hundreds of CEOs and business leaders from Sydney, (20 June) settled down for a long night on the White Bay wharf for the 2019 Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

Among the 373 business leaders were Port Authority of New South Wales’ Sydney Harbour Master, Philip Holliday, and Executive General Manager, Brad Milner, who bedded down on cardboard and concrete on one of the coldest nights of the year.

It’s the second time Port Authority has hosted the charity event at White Bay Cruise Terminal and, this year, almost $2 million was raised at the Sydney event.

Similar events took place in cities across the country and, collectively, over $7 million was raised to help support some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Homelessness is a very real issue for Australia. Over 116,000 people experience homelessness in Australia, with almost 30,000 in New South Wales alone.

The money raised will help Vinnies provide to essential outreach programs, accommodation, meals and emergency assistance to those who need it the most.
