Cruise terminal to host Vinnies CEO Sleepout 2019

On 20 June, hundreds of Sydney’s business leaders will spend the longest and coldest night of the year sleeping out on cardboard and concrete on the wharf at White Bay Cruise Terminal.

White Bay Cruise Terminal will once again host the Sydney leg of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout: the annual fundraising event that sees thousands of business leaders from across the country sleep outdoors to raise funds for Australians experiencing homelessness.

Homelessness is a very real issue for Australia. Over 116,000 people experience homelessness in Australia and almost 30,000 of them are in New South Wales.

At the recent event launch on the wharf of White Bay Cruise Terminal, Network 10 presenter Joe Hilderbrand said: “Homelessness is not the stereotype we think. Anyone can find themselves in a situation where they face homelessness and need help.

“It’s people like Vinnies who will help us when we need it, so we should do our best to help them.”

It will be the second time Viinnies has held the event at Port Authority’s Rozelle cruise terminal. Last year, Port Authority CEO, Grant Gilfillan, took his place on the wharf with 327 other business leaders who collectively raised over $1 million towards the national total of almost $7 million.

This year, Port Authority’s Sydney Harbour Master Philip Holliday and Executive General Manager Brad Milner, will sleep out on the wharf, experiencing for one night what thousands experience every night.
