The Bays Port area encompasses both Glebe Island and White Bay, in Sydney's inner west. The precinct has a long history as a working port, offering a central location to support the development of Sydney's infrastructure projects.
Glebe Island in Bays Port has been a vital maritime supply route for over 100 years and has been used for importing concrete and gypsum to service Sydney's construction supply needs since the early 1990s. The port's berths provide a low-cost, low-impact and sustainable way to bring dry bulk materials (including sand for making concrete) into the city. Whereas White Bay has been used for water-based transport and industrial activities since the nineteenth century, in conjunction with Glebe Island. White Bay now houses the White Bay Cruise Terminal to welcome international cruise passengers to the heart of Sydney.

Shore Power
In a first in the Southern Hemisphere for a cruise terminal and a world first for a dry-bulk precinct, Port Authority of NSW is in the process of installing and supplying Shore Power in the Bays Port precinct.

Bays Port Request for Lease Proposals
Port Authority is undertaking an open market approach to secure long-term tenants for the use of deep-water berths and adjacent land at Glebe Island 1 & 2 (Multi User Facility) and at White Bay 3 & 4.

Bays Port Plan (BPP)
Port Authority has developed the Bays Port Plan which sets out a holistic long-term land and water use strategy for the Bays Port (White Bay and Glebe Island).
