Seafarer Welfare Fund - Applications open now!
In February 2024, Port Authority, NSW Ports and Port of Newcastle launched the Seafarers Welfare Fund.
The Seafarer Welfare Fund aims to enable the long-term provision of services, projects and programs in support of the state’s essential seafarer workforce in a productive and sustainable way.
Collectively, the contributing parties will provide an annual combined total of $500,000 to the Fund for the benefit of successful seafarer welfare organisations that demonstrate how they can enhance seafarer welfare in NSW.
Applications open for Round 2
Seafarer welfare organisations are invited to submit applications for Round 2 of the Seafarer Welfare Fund.
Applicants must that demonstrate how they can enhance seafarer welfare in NSW, in line with the following criteria:
- Applicant organisations must operate in NSW and be a registered charitable organisation which has deductible gift recipient status.
- Applications should demonstrate how the funding will:
- Enable your organisation to sustain or improve its services to seafarers. This may include activities including communication support, transportation, accommodation or recreational activities.
- Support or enhance the well-being and mental health of seafarers.
- Applications must not exceed $100,000 in value, per annum.
